9:00am to 12:00pm

THIS CAMP TAKES PLACE AT MERRYMEETING ART STUDIO IN BOWDOINHAM, MAINE.  Open to ages 7 and up, we will have 3 mornings of creative bliss.  Our first goal will be to create a library of papers to use later.  We will begin camp by carving stamps from potatoes and other vegetables (yes, other vegetables!) We will also carve rubber stamps and will print our images on paper using paint and ink.  We will create gelatin prints and paste paper as well.   The next camp day we will use our papers!  We will create a small folded book, called a zine,  and use our own papers and stamps to adorn the pages.  Last, we will create pop up cards and origami.  Each student will get to take home a copy of everyone’s zine upon leaving camp.  Students should bring a water bottle and a nut-free snack.  The cost for this camp is $100 and includes all materials.  Email merrymeetingartstudio@gmail.com to sign up.

Summer Art Camp I:  BUILDING and ASSEMBLAGE!

Monday/Wednesday/Friday, July 9th, 11th, and 13th

9:00am-12:00pm

This camp is all about building up.  Ideal for ages 6 through 12, we’ll spend our days using found objects, paper towel tubes, egg cartons, corrugated cardboard, wooden bits, fabric, metal baubles, and more to construct a sculpture.  This will grow from a solid platform.  We will use various glues and methods of attachment.  Students will have the opportunity to paint their sculptures and embellish them further.  Students can use their imagination and create their sculpture as a house, a castle, a building, an animal, a robot, etc. The sky’s the limit!  There will be other small projects to do as well during drying times.  Students should bring a water bottle to camp.  A nut-free snack will be provided.  The cost for this camp is $105.
