TUESDAYS January 2, 9, 16, 23, 30

FRIDAYS January 5, 12, 19, 26

The After School Art Club is designed for K through 5th graders and will combine a mixture of fun art and fine art.  Possible areas of “study” will be book making, art journaling, watercolor, illustration, assemblage, collage, jewelry making, stamp carving, and more.  Kids will be encouraged to follow their own creative desires and not necessarily a prescribed project.  I’m finding they are happiest when they can make what they want.  I’ll always have a project available but more often than not, children will follow their own path.  The cost is $15 per session.  This includes all materials and a simple snack.

Day-Before-Thanksgiving JEWELRY MAKING CAMP

Wednesday November 22, 9:00am to 2:00pm

Back by popular demand, and open to ages 9 and up, we will work with pouring resin, stringing beads, forming wire, using jump rings, making shrink plastic charms and pendants, and more.  Students must also bring lunch and a water bottle.  The cost for this camp is $60.

ADULT CLASSES! (in no particular order!)

The Wonders of Watercolor

THURSDAYS, Once per week, from 10:30am-12:30pm

This weekly class is all about experimenting with watercolor!  Each class will consist of practicing a few techniques, such as wet-in-wet approaches, resists, masks, dry brushing, and more.  We will especially investigate color relationships and the role that value plays.  Students must bring with them cold press watercolor paper, a set of watercolors, and several watercolor brushes, especially one large round brush.  If you’re new and not sure of where to start, email me and I can help steer you in the right direction.  Bring a snack if you wish, and I always will have tea and coffee to offer!  The cost  for this class is $20 per session.

Mixed-Media Art Journaling

Every-other-Friday, 1:30 – 3:30pm:

In these sessions, we will explore different techniques using a mix of water soluble media along with some other artsy goodies and combining them with paper ephemera collage.  We will write just a little bit but we will also explore page composition and general mess making.  This is a no-mistakes approach!!  Each student should bring to class cold press watercolor paper or a mixed media art journal. $20 per session.

Intro to Encaustics

Saturday December 16, 10:00-4:00pm

Learn the basics of this luscious medium;  how to make and tint encaustic medium, how to keep a hot pallet, how to prime surfaces, and of course, how to paint with wax!  We will embed objects and carve and incise lines.  Students will work back and forth between two panels.  I’ll urge you to construct a simple landscape, but you may paint as you wish.  Students should bring lunch and warm clothing as I will keep the door to the deck open for the duration.  The cost for this workshop is $80 which includes all supplies.  Space is limited to 4 students.

Want to book an art or craft party?  We’d LOVE to help you out.  We hold parties for kids and adults at The Painted Dog and have even been known to travel for home parties as well. Email Mandy at with your idea and we can discuss!
